If you have been diagnosed with cancer, the following diet is recognized in scientific
literature to be helpful in regaining your health.

GENERAL DIETARY GUIDELINES
  • Eat organic only (75 EPA experts rank pesticide residues as one of the top 3
     environmental cancer risks)
  • Eat hormone free. This is particularly important for breast, ovarian, and prostate
     cancers.
  • Increase the “good” fats in your diet and by supplementation (omega-3) and
     reduce the “bad” fats (saturated and trans fats). Recent research has shown a
     link between onega-3s and effective cancer treatment. Studies have also shown
     a relationship between a diet high in animal fats and the development of some
     cancers.
  • Eat whole grains; avoid refined white flour products. Whole grains contain
     valuable fiber, vitamins, and minerals. Dietary fiber prevents some cancers,
     particularly colon cancer, as well as ridding the body of excess hormones,
     stabilizing blood sugar, and maintaining a healthy weight.
  • Half your plate should be vegetables. Vegetables are high in antioxidants, which
     lower levels of oxidative damage, thus prevents and controls cancer. Cruciferous
     vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower, brussel sprouts, cabbage) contain indole-3-
     carbinol which inhibit estrogen-binding.
  • OTHER THINGS TO AVOID: simple sugars, sodium, alcohol, nitrates, smoked
     meats, food coloring, additives & perservatives, aluminum cookware, foods to
     which you are allergic, milk, dairy, red meats, coffee, microwaved foods
  • Drink green tea. One of its active ingredients, epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG)
     has shown in studies to prevent and treat some cancers. For this effect, it’s
     recommended to have at least 5 cups of green tea per day
Exercise as Cancer Prevention:
There is evidence that shows that structured exercise programs are associated with lower rates
of cancer like colon, breast prostate lung and uterus. According to a study men who exercised
moderately as few as 500 calories a week had a 15-20 percent lower cancer mortality rate and
men who burned up to 2000 calories had about 35 percent lower cancer mortality rate than their
sedative counterparts.  

Benefits of exercise during treatment
Maintaining a specific training program after cancer diagnosis results in patients who are
stronger both mentally and physically. Mentally it has been shown that there were less mood
disturbances, and a decrease in depression and sleeping problems. Physically, studies show
increased stamina,  functional capacity, strength,  improved treatment tolerance and a decreased
in pain.
